Xerox is a global leader in document management, offering the widest range of technology, consulting services and solutions in the industry. From the smallest office printer to the largest production color printing system, Xerox offers it. As a result, Xerox also has a very wide range of customers, the Dutch Ministry of Defence is one of them.
Dutch troops go on missions around the world. Temporary camps are frequently set up there, where office needs such as a printer, internet and servers need to be available. The Xerox copiers need to be transported to Afghanistan, for example. These fragile devices have to endure the transport. In the list of requirements the fact that it should be possible to use the copier in a small space like a truck was incorporated.
Roads in the mission areas are often different than the highways that we are used to. Hence, the flight case has a resilient bottom plate in order to absorb shocks.
Besides a proper transport, ease of loading and unloading of the copier in the flight case and from the flight case in a truck, ship or plane is part of the solution. The lid is filled with accessories and can be completely removed. It is then possible to remove both halves of the case separately from each other, without having to lift the flight case completely over the copier. This makes it possible to also unpack the copier in small spaces.
At the bottom omega profiles are mounted to be able to transport the case with a forklift truck without slipping off. With foam parts the equipment is kept in place during transport.
